Witness giving evidence in court

Help for witnesses

A witness is someone who sees or knows something about a crime. For example, someone who has seen a person breaking a car window and stealing CDs is a witness.

We created our Witness Service to support people who have to give evidence in court. The person who has asked you to be a witness will put you in touch with your local Witness Service or you can call your local Victim Support office to get information.

As a young witness, the court can do things to help make the experience easier for you - such as using TV links or screens so that you don't have to see the offender face-to-face in the courtroom. We can arrange this kind of help for you.
