Burglary

Burglary is when someone breaks into a building and steals something. It happens to a lot of people - around 750,000 households get broken into every year (British Crime Survey).

If your home is broken into it can be very upsetting - especially if your things were taken. You might also feel worried about it happening again.

Victim Support has lots of experience of helping people who have been victims of burglary. We can help in different ways:

  • Burglary victims can talk to us about what has happened and how they are feeling.
  • We can help burglary victims find people to repair their homes (for example, if a door or window needs to be fixed).
  • We can help with practical things and give you advice to make it less likely to happen again.
